Seminar Multilingualism and integration: paths and proposals

Date: Thursday 12th May

Venue: Palazzo Gallenga Sala Goldoniana, University for Foreigners, Perugia.

This seminar was open to Local Institutions, Non-governmental organisation, Labor unions. In all 30 people participated in this.

4. Conclusions:

The seminar led to the creation of an informal network including the MERIDIUM Centre at the University for Foreigners of Perugia, institutions, local enterprises and the world of work, with the aim to plan effective actions for promoting and strengthening linguistic integration of adult migrants. A clear demand for synergy among institutional actors involved in the work and training processes came up as one of the main results of the final.

 

Seminar Languages and Worlds in the Classroom

Date: Tuesday 17th May

Venue: Palazzo Gallenga Sala Goldoniana, University for Foreigners, Perugia.

This seminar was open to teachers, school managers, linguistic and cultural mediators, 37 participants from 17 different schools of Umbria and Tuscany attended the seminar.

It has been officially recognized by the Ufficio Scolastico Regionale dell’Umbria as training course (Direttiva n. 90 del 1/12/1993 art.1 c.2).

- Teaching Italian L2 from an acquisitional perspective: the concept of “interlanguage” and error analysis. (Tutor: Borbala Samu, University for Foreigners, Perugia)

- Teaching Italian L2 from an interlinguistic perspective: typological distance between Italian and foreign pupils’ L1. (Tutor: Alejandro Marcaccio, University for Foreigners, Perugia)

- Promoting linguistic diversity and bilingual competences in the classroom and in the school curriculum. (Tutor: Stefania Scaglione, University for Foreigners, Perugia)

- Good practices in involving and integrating foreign pupils’ families. (Tutor: Jessica Cancila, University for Foreigners, Perugia)

4. Conclusions

Conclusions The seminar led to the creation of an informal network including the MERIDIUM Centre at the University for Foreigners of Perugia and primary schools of Umbria. Starting from the school year 2011-2012, a pilot initiative will be held to test the materials developed during the meeting. The testing phase will involve 10 schools (13 classes and 260 students)
