The JRS in Malta seeks to accompany, serve and defend the rights of asylum seekers and forcibly displaced persons who arrive in Malta. Each arrival's story bears witness to traumatised, disrupted pasts but also to a remarkable will to survive against all the odds.

The field office addresses the public in their own language. This involves presenting the EU's messages in language that is clear and widely understandable ("localisation"), tailoring information to local needs and realities. The field office also functions as the contact point on language issues for the national authorities and civil society, including academic, social and economic bodies, think tanks and non governmental organisations.
