Michel Gustave Joseph Binet

Lecturer at the Instituto Superior de Serviço Social de Lisboa, since 1996, and at Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa since 2007, where he teaches sociology.

Master’s in Social Sciences, Université Sorbonne (Paris 5), 1993.

Former collaborator of CIEMI (Centre d’Information et d’Étude des Migrations Internationales–Paris).

Member of CRIA–Centro em Rede de Investigação em Antropologia.

Though he is presently working on his PhD in Anthropology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL), M. Binet is a valuable member of CLUNL, coordinating the CLUNL project “Speech Interaction in Social Intervention. Conversational Analysis applied to Social Work” (CLISSIS / GIID (CLUNL) / CLA Sintra-2007-2008), a project involving research units and a municipality with a large population of immigrant communities. He has been chosen as coordinator for the ACASS Transcription Office (CLUNL-CLISSIS).

Domains of specialization: Conversation Analysis, Ethnography of Communication; Interactional Sociolinguistics. Research papers and oral communications on: Verbal and non-verbal communication in Social Services; Intercultural communication; Social intervention in intercultural environments; Teacher training for Diversity.
